Several months of investigations led to the arrest

AUSTIN, Ind. — Indiana State Police arrested an Austin man following an investigation that began in March after a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Detectives with the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force in Sellersburg launched the investigation after receiving information indicating that images of child sexual abuse material had been uploaded through an electronic service provider.
During the investigation, detectives identified a suspect living in Austin. Based on information gathered, investigators requested and obtained search warrants for the residence.
On July 14, 2026, troopers with the Indiana State Police executed those search warrants at the Austin home. As a result of the search and continued investigation, troopers took 40-year-old James Adam Meredith into custody and transported him to the Scott County Jail.
Meredith faces preliminary charges of five counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, all Level 5 felonies.
The Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a multiagency task force that investigates and prosecutes persons who use the internet to sexually exploit or entice children, and the Indiana State Police oversees the task force.
