Shelby Energy Responds to COVID-19 Concerns

(Undated) - With the uncertainty created by the coronavirus pandemic, many are facing concerns.

Following cooperative values, Shelby Energy Cooperative is dedicated to doing what they can to fulfill their civic duty and live up to the trust that their members' place in them to bring them safe, reliable and affordable energy services.

The lobby will remain closed to the public. Members are still able to pay bills, start service, and conduct all other necessary business through the company’s free smartphone app, the website, by phone, the night deposit, or drive-thru.

This will allow them to limit the direct exposure of our members and employees. The companies service and field personnel will  be employing “social distancing.” The goal is to decrease the likelihood of illness and resulting work disruptions so that they can continue to provide their members' continuity of service.

In addition, the company is forgoing the disconnecting of service to members for non-payment or low funds for a limited time. While this is not a normal procedure for the company, they are “sensitive to the well-being of all of our members.”

Though disconnects may not occur, it will be the responsibility of each member to pay for the services they use in order for the company to best serve every member. Bills, late notices, and disconnect notices will continue to be sent as usual.
