Wanted on warrants for two other counties

February 23, 2023, Madison Police responded to a suspicious activity call in the 300 block of E. 3rd Street. Investigating Officer Andrew Gibbs and Kyle Potter located James M. Bare 31, Vevay, Indiana, in the area. Follow-up investigation found that Bare had outstanding warrants out of both Clark and Jefferson County, Indiana, for theft. A search of Bare's person, incident to arrest, found him to be in possession of methamphetamine as well.
James Bare was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jefferson County Jail, where he remains in custody on a parole hold. Possession of methamphetamine is a level 6 felony.
Bare has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
