(Dickson, Tenn.) – After five days trying to outrun the law, David Paul Vaughn was finally captured.

Vaughn, 32, of Florence, fled from Boone County Sheriff’s deputies after resisting arrest at the Marathon gas station in Verona on March 19. That same morning, he led a pursuit that ended in Switzerland County. His vehicle was later found abandoned in Vevay, where he is believed to have stolen a Nissan Rogue from a residence and escaped the area.

On Friday night, March 23, Vaughn was taken into custody by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation at a hotel in Dickson, Tennessee. TBI authorities say Vaughn was wanted on aggravated burglary and theft charges for a January 9 incident in the state.

Vaughn is also accused of committing an armed robbery at a Walgreen’s pharmacy in Pensacola, Florida while he was on the lam. Police said Vaughn took opioids from the pharmacy.

Following the robbery, Vaughn began heading back north. On Thursday, March 22, the stolen Nissan Rogue was found unoccupied in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. The TBI became involved in the manhunt, and the next evening they located Vaughn at the hotel in nearby Dickson.

In Kentucky, Vaughn is due to face a charge of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer. In Indiana, he is to be charged with Auto Theft.
