Traffic Stop Leads to Arrests in Jennings Co.

(Jennings County, Ind.) - Three people were arrested following a traffic stop in Jennings County on Saturday night. 

Jennings County Sheriff's deputies observed a vehicle commit multiple traffic infractions on County Road 300 N. and initiated a traffic stop. While speaking to the driver, Matthew Bertram, 45, of North Vernon, deputies became suspicious of criminal activity. 

K9 Creed was requested to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. The K9 indicated the odor of illegal drugs in the vehicle and the driver allegedly admitted to a large quantity of methamphetamine being in the vehicle. 

Deputies searched and recovered 19.9 grams of methamphetamine. 

Through investigation, deputies were able to determine where Matthew had just picked up the Narcotics from and developed enough probable cause to be granted a search warrant for a residence North Vernon. Deputies went to a residence and made contact with a female identified as Debra Gray, 68 years old of North Vernon. Deputies executed the search warrant of Debra’s residence and located numerous evidentiary signs of dealing in illegal drugs, a handgun, and 17.4 grams of Methamphetamine.

Also arrested at the residence was Amberly Adkins, 36 years old, for possession of paraphernalia.
