All four were arrested on various charges

On January 15th, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Madison Police Department (MPD) Ptl. Sweet conducted a traffic stop in the 1100 block of West Main Street. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Derek Snell, 30, Madison, Indiana, and the passengers were identified as Scott M. Doty, 44, Madison, Indiana, Brad W. Parker, 40, Madison, Indiana, and Emily N. Brierly, 30, Vevay, Indiana. A probable cause search was conducted after the detection of a narcotics odor. Officers located methamphetamine, controlled substances, narcotics paraphernalia, and syringes. Ptl. Sweet was assisted in his investigation by Ptl. Curtis Shelpman, Ptl. Graham Heffelfinger, and Sr. Ptl. Cody Lewis. The accused are facing the following preliminary charges but have a presumption of innocence until proven guilty in a court of law:

- Emily N. Brierly -- POSSESSION OF A SYRINGE/HYPODERMIC NEEDLE & POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA
- Brad W. Parker -- POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA
- Scott M. Doty -- POSSESSION OF PARAPHERNALIA
