Traffic Stop Leads to the Arrest of Madison Woman for Methamphetamine

Charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a syringe.

Madison Police (crime suppression team) arrested Tammy R. Stewart 45, Madison, Indiana for possession of methamphetamine and possession of a syringe.  At approximately 11:41 PM on 7/27/20 Detective Shawn Scudder executed a traffic stop, on a vehicle driven by Stewart, for expired license plates.  Patrolman Brian Ashcraft and his K-9 "Colt" were summoned to the stop to conduct an open air sniff around the perimeter of the vehicle.  K-9 "Colt" gave a positive indication of narcotics present.

 
A subsequent search followed, Officers located the syringe, and approximately 4.9 grams of methamphetamine.  Stewart was transported to the Jefferson County Jail where she awaits her initial court appearance on the preliminary alleged charges.  Detective Scudder was assisted by Officers Cutshaw, Ashcraft, Lewis and Lee.  
 
Tammy Stewart has the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
