(Scott County, Ind.) - While on patrol on Friday, July 26, Office Andy Brown with the Scottsburg Police Department, observed a vehicle traveling south on Gardner Street with a defective headlight.

The vehicle then proceeded to travel westbound down Moonglo Road where it was going over the speed limit.

Officer Brown then stopped the vehicle, when the driver immediately took off at a high rate of speed exceeding over 90 mph.

Officers Greg Green, Justin Cheatham, and Ryan Ware set up stop sticks near Nicole Lane when the vehicle swerved around the units onto the walking path and back onto Lake Road.

Reserve Officer Bobby Wilson of Austin Police Department was working an off duty detail at Samtec and attempted to deploy stop sticks at the entrance of Mid American Science Park.

The suspect vehicle locked up its breaks striking Reserve Officer Wilson's vehicle on the passenger side.

As the vehicle came to a stop the driver, Levi Brewer, fled on foot across the parking lot where he was apprehended by Officers Brown and Ware.

After a search of his vehicle, officers located a backpack containing a marijuana pipe, meth pipe, and a set of scales.

Brewer was transported to the Scott County ER where he was evaluated and blood was taken. While at ER Brewer admitted to using marijuana on a daily basis and has used methamphetamine earlier in the day.

Reserve Officer Wilson was also taken to the ER for treatment to injuries to his legs and knees after his vehicle spun around from the impact knocking him to the ground.

The passenger Gavin Brewer was also arrested.

The two are currently in the Scott County Jail and are innocent until proven guilty.
