IHSAA Local Boys Basketball Sectional First Round Results

Rebels and Cubs make big second half comebacks for wins

IHSAA BOYS BASKETBALL SECTIONAL (First Round)

2A at Southwestern:

Southwestern came from 11 down at half and as many 13 to defeat Clarksville 58-48. Rebels outscored the General in the second half 41-22 for the victory. Southwestern moves to the semi-finals on Friday at 6 against Henryville. Rebels defeated the Hornets 68-49 on December 28th at Madison in the J.C.I.T. Southwestern was led by Foster Mefford and Austin Kramer both with 22 points. Coach Zac Nussbaum had this to say on the 95.3 WIKI Chandler Chevrolet post game show:

Switzerland Co. will take on Providence in game two on Friday after the Pioneers defeated Austin 68-46

 

3A at Corydon Central:

Madison's Kaden Oliver hits a free throw and Salem misses last-second 3 as Cubs complete a 17-point comeback to claim the win over the Lions 69-66. Madison will take on Scottsburg Friday in the first semi-finals game at 6pm. Cubs defeated the Warriors 57-55 on January 10th. Mason Welsh 24 points, Luke Miller 18, Kaden Oliver 14 to lead Madison. 

 

1A at Edinburgh:

West Washington will end Shawe's season with a 49-39 win in the first round. Hilltoppers end their season at 9-14 under first year coach Dan Hambrick. Ethan Stuart led Shawe with 19 points.
