Friday, February 5:

Congratulations to Madison’s Jenna Imel. On Friday she signed with Franklin College to continue her golf career.

Congratulation to Switzerland County's John "JW" Goldsberry has been nominated by the Indiana Football Coaches Association and was named to their Academic All-Star Football Team. JW has a two-year varsity letterman as a placekicker at Switzerland County and is looking to possibly further his academic and athletic career at Wabash College next year. 

 

Girls Basketball:

In the 1A girls, sectional Trinity Lutheran defeated Shawe Memorial with the final score of 86 to 23. The Hilltoppers ended their season with a 2-9 record.

In the 2A girl's sectional semifinals, Switzerland County defeated Southwestern with the final score of 40 to 35 in overtime. The pacers moved to 12-8 in the season, and Southwestern finished their season 13-9. Jessie Duvall led Switzerland County with 16 points, Keirstan Oeffinger 9 points, Halle Archer 6 points, Maddie Duvall 4 points, Bora Hankins 4 points, and Jayden Thomas has 1 point.

The Madison Lady Cubs fell to Silver Creek in the 3A sectional semifinals with a final score of 51 to 36. The cubs ended their season with a record of 12-12. Madison’s Jade Nutley set a new school record with 932 rebounds and led the Cubs with 17 points, Lundun Perry had 8 points and 7 rebounds, and Daesja Jay had 5 points.

Boys Basketball:

The Trimble County Raiders defeated Owen County with a final score of 64 to 56. Dylan Jennings led the Raiders with 17 points, Ryan Long had 7 points, Tate Ogburn had 16 points, Ethan Horn had 8 points, and James Thomas Wilcoxson had 7 points.  

Carroll County Boys JV and Varsity both picked up wins against Eminence.

 

Saturday, February 6:

Girls Basketball:

In the 2A sectional championship, South Ripley defeated Switzerland County securing their first sectional win in three years with the final score of 42 to 36. Jessie Duvall led Switzerland County with 13 points, Nora Hankins had 6 points. Rachel Meyer led South Ripley with 14 points Janie San Miguel had 10 points.

The Raiders fell to Henry County with the final score of 83 to 63.

Southwestern-Shelby defeated Jac-Cen-Del in the girl's sectional finals with a final score of 52 to 48.

Boys Basketball:

Madison JV fell to Batesville with the final score of 54 to 23. Andrew Scroggins led the Cubs with 8 points.

The Freshman Panthers picked up a win against Franklin County with the final score of 41 to 23. Seth Franklin led the way with 13 points, and Aden Stephenson had 10 points. Panthers JV picked up a win against Franklin County with the final score of 36 to 33. Varsity Panthers fell to Franklin County with the final score of 76 to 60.

Madison Boys broke their three-game losing streak defeating Batesville with the final score of 64 to 61.

Madison Wrestling:

  • Bilz wins by fall at 106lbs in 1st round over Charlestown to Advance to Semi-state.
    • Bilz loses 13-4 to Corydon finishes 4th at 106lbs and becomes Madison's first-ever girl to qualify for the boy's semistate and possibly 3rd ever in the State of Indiana.
  • Walls wins by FF at 120lbs in Round 1 to advance to semi-state
    • Walls wins by fall for 120lbs Regional title
  • Burkhardt rolls to 1st round win at 126lbs with 16-0 win in the 2nd period to advance e to semi-state
    • Burkhardt come from behind win by fall over Jeff to claim 126lbs title
  • Willhite drops 1st round match to Charlestown at 138lbs.
  • Stockdale loses by fall at 152lbs in the first round
  • McCarty wins by fall at 160lbs to advance to semi-state
    • McCarty loses by tech fall for runner-up at 160lbs
  • Skinner wins by fall at 170lbs by pin to advance to semi-state
    • Skinner loses 7-2 in finals at 170lbs for runner up
  • Youngblood wins by fall at 182lbs to advance to semi-state
  • Skinner wins by fall in 1st period over undefeated New Washington at 170lbs to advance to finals
    • Skinner loses 7-2 in finals at 170lbs for runner up
  • Fulton gets a 6-5 win at 220lbs over Charlestown to advance to the Finals.
    • Fulton drops his 220lbs finals match to East 7-1 to finish runner up

Madison finishes the Regional 4th.  Sends 7 to Semi-state, 5 finalists, and 2 Champions.
