Canaan Community Academy Welcomes Learning Center Coordinator

The program will be STEM based

Our new 21st Century Learning Center will be commencing at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year this August. We are happy to introduce Jake Allard as its Coordinator. Jake has been active in the local community for several years. His experience working with children has proven useful and effective through his time volunteering in 4-H, River Valley’s Summer Meals Program, and his employment in elementary education. He is a husband and father of two. 

Jake believes, “The next generations have the potential to be great leaders with proper guidance and an engaging education.”

Canaan Community Academy is an Indiana Department of Education STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Certified school where all students participate. The 21st Century Learning Center will be a STEM based after school program. The goal is to engage young minds in fun and active learning. This approach is designed to guide students through their education, encouraging them to solve real-world problems using inquiry-based learning, science and engineering design practices, critical thinking and collaboration. 

The foundational culture of the program is designed to enhance the students’ real-world skills, prepping them for great careers and community involvement as they grow. This is accomplished through STEM based group missions, physical and mental health development, sports clinics, special guests and workshops. There are many areas of interest that can foster the excitement of students including; electronics, coding, culinary arts, robotics, parkour, and more. This will all be provided to the children free of charge, including snacks and transportation to primary stops. 

We are humbly asking if there are any masters of their fields or hobby specialists that would have an interest in making a guest appearance or a short workshop to further enhance the students' experience.
