Plead to lesser charges

Former Trimble County Sheriff, Charles Kelton whom was arrested and charged with sexual abuse for an incident while in office, has accepted a plea deal.
He was accused of grabbing the victim’s hip and pulling her against him despite her physically and verbally rejecting his advances.
He was charged with first-degree sexual abuse but that charge was amended to harassment with physical contact. His charge of official misconduct while in office was dismissed.
He was sentenced to 45 days in jail but will not have to serve that time if he does not violate any terms of the deal for two years. That includes not breaking any more laws or having contact with the victim.
