Indiana Celebrates Lowest Unemployment Rate in the Region

The state's jobless rate has reached its lowest level since May 2023

INDIANAPOLIS - Indiana's unemployment rate has fallen to 3.3 percent, positioning the Hoosier state among the region's lowest and well below the national rate of 4.1 percent.

Since Governor Braun took office, the state’s unemployment rate has declined by 0.7 percentage points and reached its lowest level since May 2023.

Indiana also continues to outperform its neighboring states, with unemployment rates of 4.7 percent in Kentucky and Illinois and 5.0 percent in Michigan. Ohio is tied with Indiana at 3.3 percent.

Indiana's labor force also remains strong. The state's labor force participation rate stands at 63 percent, well above the national average of 61.6 percent, reflecting continued workforce participation across the state.

"By creating an environment where businesses can grow and workers can succeed, we're expanding opportunity for Hoosiers while keeping Indiana's economy strong and competitive."
