Intoxicated driver caught going over 100mph with child in the car

Intoxicated Driver Stopped for Going 109 MPH with Child in Vehicle

This morning, January 18, 2023, a Trooper from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post stopped a vehicle for traveling 109 mph on I-65 in northern Jackson County, Indiana.  The driver was arrested after the investigation determined he was intoxicated with a BAC of three times the legal limit while having a young child in the car.

The investigation by Trooper Korry Clark began at approximately 10:00 am, when he stopped a 2020 Toyota passenger car on I-65 Northbound near the Jackson/Bartholomew County Line for traveling well over the posted 70 mph speed limit.  During the course of the traffic stop, Trp. Clark observed that the driver, Anthony A. Reed, age 36, Huntsville, Alabama, showed signs of intoxication.

Reed was transported to the Seymour Police Department where he submitted to a breath test for intoxication.  The test determined he had a BAC of .24%.  He was transported to the Jackson County Jail where he was remanded to the custody of the jail staff on preliminary charges of Operating While Intoxicated with a Prior Conviction, Operating While Intoxicated with a Child Under the Age of 18, and Operating with a BAC of .15% or greater.  More charges are possible.

An adult female passenger and the child were released from the scene.

Under the Law, criminal charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
