Jefferson County Stays in Red Advisory For Second Week

Jefferson County will be staying at a RED advisory level on the Indiana Department of Health County metrics map with the map updated yesterday at 5pm.

RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE JEFFERSON COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT: Universal masking for all individuals in indoor settings regardless of vaccination status and while gathering with those outside of your immediate household. Avoid crowded indoor places.

RED advisory indicates we are experiencing high community spread. We are experiencing group setting outbreaks in our county at this time.

TESTING UPDATE: Due to a national shortage of rapid antigen test, rapid tests are in limited supply. Indiana Department of Health is pursuing every avenue to secure more rapid tests.

PCR tests are available and results are back within 24 to 48 hours. If you are sick, please seek testing right away and stay away from others until you know your results. You can receive free testing at the Jefferson County Community Testing Site located at King’s Daughters’ Hospital Convenient Care, 445 Clifty Drive, Madison, IN 47250 812 273-5372, or you can schedule your COVID test by visiting www.coronavirus.in.gov

Americans are able to order at-home, rapid COVID-19 tests for free, to be delivered to their home. Tests can be ordered by visiting www.covidtests.gov, tests will typically ship in 7 to 12 days of ordering.

You must order your free test on-line; they are not available at the free community testing site. Private health insurance companies are required to cover at-home COVID-19 tests, individuals should check with their private insurance for information.

Free N95 Mask The Jefferson County Health Department will not be the distribution site for the federal program for free N95 mask. We were informed by the Indiana Department of Health the free N95 masks will be distributed through pharmacies.

We will post more information as we receive it. The Jefferson County Health Department urges all Jefferson County residents and visitors to get vaccinated against COVID-19. You can schedule your COVID vaccine by visiting www.ourshot.in.gov

We are also accepting walk-ins in our office located at 715 Green Road, Madison, IN 47250 Monday thru Friday 9am-3pm. We have all three vaccines available, Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson. Individual’s age 12 – 17 years of age must receive Pfizer vaccine and have an adult present.
