Jennings County Woman Arrested Following Traffic Stop

A substancial amount of drugs where found on her person

                                        

During a traffic stop Tuesday evening, Jennings County Deputies located approximately 36 Grams of Methamphetamine. The incident began after a deputy initiated a traffic stop after witnessing a traffic infraction in the area of North State Street.

During the course of the traffic stop, the officer became suspicious of illegal activity and requested a K9 unit to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. The K9 gave a positive indication to the odor of illegal Narcotics. During the investigation, Deputies made contact with Betty Johnson, 50, of North Vernon who was a passenger in the vehicle. Deputies located approximately 36 Grams of Methamphetamine concealed on Betty's person.

Ms. Johnson was transported to the Jennings County Jail where she was remanded on the following preliminary charge:

Possession of Methamphetamine- Level 3 Felony

Johnson is currently being held on a $20,055 Bond.

Jennings County Sheriff's Deputies where assisted at the scene by the North Vernon Police Department
