(Dillsboro, Ind.) - Fourteen agencies were called to a massive fire in Dillsboro on Thursday afternoon.

Firefighters were called to a working structure fire at the Laughery Valley AG building along U.S. 50 around 4:35 p.m.

Upon arriving at the scene, one of the buildings of the agricultural supply business was found engulfed in heavy flames and smoke. Firefighters began a defensive fire attack. Fourteen water tenders brought water to the scene. Also used was a return to a hydrant, refill, and two ladder trucks with master streams, and several engines.

While a hydrant was able to supply one of the ladder trucks, the water tenders kept a supplemental nearly uninterrupted supply to the second ladder.

Efforts kept the fire away from a large propane tank near the rear of the business.

The scene was cleared shortly before midnight.

A damage estimate is not available at the time, but additional buildings were not destroyed, according to Dillsboro Police.

No injuries were reported and a cause is under investigation by the Indiana State Fire Marshal.

U.S. 50 westbound was shut down for multiple hours while crews worked to extinguish the fire.
