PARADE REGISTRATIONS & CHRISTMAS PREPARATIONS BEGIN

Saturday, Dec. 1

Arvin Sango presents the Very Merry Madison Christmas Parade, an annual Madison tradition returns to Main Street at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, 2018 and entry registrations forms are available NOW on the City’s website or in-person at City Hall.

Large helium balloons will return to the parade this year in shapes of a snowman, a present, ornaments, and lollipop. Book characters and mascots such as Mickey & Minnie Mouse, Snoopy, Anna, Elsa, Olaf, and gingerbread men will also make their way down Main Street to wave to the crowd.

“We are looking forward to another great parade in Madison, Indiana for 2018. Each year keeps getting better, and the community can expect no different this year! I’d also like to say thank you to Arvin Sango and its employees who have been strong supporters of the parade the last few years. They have stepped up this year to make it even better!” said Community Relations Director Andrew Forrester.

Parade organizers are seeking local marching bands, performers, and floats to join the parade. The parade route begins at Jefferson & Main Street and continues through Madison’s historic shopping district to Mill Street. Registrations for the parade close on November 19th. There is no registration fee to be a part of the parade, but the parade committee’s reserves the right to accept or decline any potential entry. A full list of parade rules are available with the registration form. For the fourth year in a row, a Grand Marshal will be chosen for the parade from public nominations. Nominations are due by November 18th. Parade registration forms and Grand Marshal nomination forms are available on the City website at www.madison-in.gov.

Organizers are continuing to seek sponsors for this parade and the new helium balloons at amounts ranging from $100 to $1,000. Businesses who wish to support the parade and Christmas festivities in Madison can contact Andrew Forrester about sponsorship opportunities. Jefferson County Library Ornaments are being sold this year to support the Christmas parade and are available at City Hall, German American Bank on the hilltop, Visit Madison Inc, and the Library. A limited amount of Ohio Theatre (2016) and Fair Play Fire Co (2015) ornaments are available at City Hall and the Visitor’s Center.

Light-Up Madison has been changed this year to occur on Saturday, November 24th at 6:00pm. A detailed schedule of activities for Light Up Madison and Santa’s visits will be released at a later date.
