I-65 rest park ramps and U.S. 31 to I-65 ramp closures

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. - Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Force Construction Inc. plans to implement ramp closures starting Thursday, June 23 on I-65 in Bartholomew County as part of the $65 million added travel lanes contract that began last year.

Ramp and rest area closures are tentatively planned as follows, weather permitting:

  • Thursday, June 23: The entrance ramp to the northbound I-65 rest area will close Thursday morning, and the exit ramp from the rest area will close in the evening. The rest area will be closed until the ramps reopen Friday morning.
  • Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25: Ramps from I-65 northbound to U.S. 31 and U.S. 31 to northbound I-65 will be closed during the hours of 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. nightly.
  • Monday, June 27 and Tuesday, June 28: Ramps from I-65 southbound to U.S. 31 and U.S. 31 to I-65 southbound will be closed during the hours of 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. nightly.
  • Wednesday, June 29: The entrance ramp to the southbound I-65 rest area will close Wednesday morning, and the exit ramp from the rest area will close in the evening. The rest area will be closed until the ramps reopen Thursday morning.

The added travel lanes and resurface portions of the project are expected to be complete this fall, with additional work expected through summer 2023. INDOT reminds drivers to use extra caution, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
