Ripley Co. Sergeant Graduates West Point Leadership Cohort

40 Indiana public-safety leaders complete nationally recognized program; ISA surpasses 150 graduates in three years.

INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Sheriffs’ Association (ISA) today announced the graduation of 40 public-safety leaders from the West Point Leadership program, delivered in partnership with the National Command & Staff College (NCSC).

This is ISA’s third West Point Leadership class, bringing the Association’s three-year total to more than 150 graduates—a clear testament to ISA’s sustained, statewide commitment to excellence in leadership training and development.

Locally, Sergeant Paul Waller from the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office was among the graduates of the West Point Leadership Cohort. 

The West Point Leadership program offered through the National Command & Staff College adapts proven leadership principles for public-safety professionals through structured online learning, instructor facilitation, and applied assessments that reinforce daily leadership practice.

The course was led by Dr. Dave Mather (Ed.D.), a nationally respected public-safety leadership instructor and certified Master Instructor for the International Association of Chiefs of Police’s Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) program.

“Professionalism and public trust rise with the quality of leadership,” said Steve Luce, Executive Director of the Indiana Sheriffs’ Association. “Investing in West Point Leadership—now for the third consecutive cohort—equips our sheriffs’ offices with leaders who think clearly, act ethically, and elevate the people around them. We’re proud to see these graduates carry forward a common language of accountability, character, and service.”
