Roadway will be closed till at least November

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ind.— Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving Inc. closed State Road 62 earlier this week for a bridge replacement project over East Fork Indian-Kentuck Creek in Jefferson County.
The bridge is located on S.R. 62 just over a half mile west of S.R. 250 near Barbersville Creek Road, east of Canaan. State Road 62 is expected to reopen in early November, weather permitting. During the closure, motorists should use the official detour route which follows U.S. 421 and S.R. 129.
The contract was awarded to E&B Paving Inc. in February and includes a total of five bridge rehabilitation projects on S.R. 62 in Jefferson County.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling in and near construction zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
