Speed limit to be reduced on U.S. 421 in Madison

Change is being made to enhance safety and improve consistency in Madison

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) is scheduled to reduce the speed limit on U.S. 421 on or after Tuesday, April 14, in Madison.

The speed limit will be reduced from 35 mph to 30 mph between Jefferson Street and Main Street. The change is being made to enhance safety and improve consistency in Madison. Advanced speed limit signs and flashing beacons will be installed to help emphasize the change. 

INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
