THREE ARRESTED FOLLOWING SHOOTING ON US 50 IN LAWRENCEBURG EARLIER THIS MONTH

Several Law Enforcement agencies were involved in the apprehension of the three individuals

On Tuesday evening, August 29th, 2023 Joshua Michael Orrantia, Ashley Raymer and Anthony Boyer were taken into custody from a road rage/shooting incident that took place earlier in the month.

On August 7th, 2023, Lawrenceburg and Greendale Police responded to a report of gunshots involving two vehicles traveling on U.S. 50. One of the vehicles was located and cooperated with law enforcement. The second vehicle, a gray Ford Focus, fled the area. On Wednesday, August 10th, police released information to the public in an effort to identify the vehicle and driver.

In the days after this release, a gray 2006 Ford Focus, matching the description of the suspect vehicle, was found abandoned by a Park Ranger in a remote area of Versailles State Park. With the assistance of Indiana Department of Natural Resources, the vehicle was secured at Lawrenceburg Police Department and a search warrant was obtained. Evidence that the vehicle had been involved in a shooting was located inside the vehicle. Anthony Boyer was identified as the registered owner of the Focus.

Through the course of the investigation, Joshua Orrantia was identified as the driver of the Focus and he resided with Anthony Boyer at Tanglewood Apartments in Versailles. Law enforcement further learned that Orrantia had recently been involved with gunshots and firearms incidents in Versailles. Law enforcement also learned that Orrantia had been in a relationship with Ashley Raymer, who also resided at Tanglewood Apartments, and Raymer had assisted Orrantia in discarding the Focus in Versailles State Park.

On Thursday, August 24th, 2023, sealed arrest warrants were issued for Orrantia, Boyer, and Raymer for the following criminal charges:

Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, Level 4 Felony,

Criminal Recklessness (Deadly Weapon), Level 6 Felony,

Pointing a Firearm, Level 6 Felony,

Obstruction of Justice, Level 6 Felony, and

Assisting a Criminal, Level 6 Felony.

On Tuesday morning, August 29th, Officers with Lawrenceburg Police Department, Versailles Police Department, Ripley County Sheriff’s Department, and Indiana State Police executed search warrants at Tanglewood Apartments. Boyer was located and arrested. Raymer was later located at the apartments and arrested. Orrantia was not located.

Information collected by law enforcement led them to believe that a residence on West County Road 500 North in Jefferson County was associated with this investigation. With the assistance of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, law enforcement responded to this residence and upon arrival, Orrantia fled from behind the residence into the woods. After an extensive search of the woods and surrounding fields, Orrantia was located and arrested.

Charges were filed in Dearborn Circuit Court and these Defendants will appear before the Honorable F. Aaron Negangard for their Initial Hearings. At this time, Orrantia, Boyer and Raymer are being held at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.

It is important to remember that criminal charges are merely allegations and individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty.
