Two Arrested In Jennings And Scott Counties After Overdoses

On Monday, at approximately 7:35 P.M., deputies with the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office responded to a possible overdose near the Vernon Gym. Upon arrival, Deputy Craig Hahn made contact with a male subject, who was standing near a vehicle. The male subject, identified as Nicholas Barlow (age 24 of North Vernon) was alert and conscious. While speaking with Deputy Hahn, Sgt. Cody Low and Deputy Doug Brown arrived to assist. Upon further investigation, Sgt. Low, observed in plain view on the passenger seat of the vehicle belonging to Barlow, a bag containing 2.5 grams of crystal substance. Barlow was checked by Jennings County EMS at the scene and refused treatment. Barlow was arrested and transported to the Jennings County Jail with a preliminary charge of Possession of Methamphetamine. Barlow is being held with a cash bond of $3,155.00

 

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on an overdose with assistance of the Austin City Police and the Scott County Prosecutor’s Office. This investigation has led to charges and the arrest of Mindy White. Mindy White, 38, of Scottsburg, has been charged and arrested for Dealing in a Narcotic Drug and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. The original overdose occurred in May and was attended to by the Austin City Police.

This is the third arrest related to an overdose that has been made by the Scott County Sheriff’s Office since Sheriff Goodin made it mandatory for his officers to investigate all overdoses to try and find the source and dealer of the drug that caused the overdose.
