Two Woman Arrested Following Traffic Stop Downtown

False registration led to the stop

                                     

May 8, 2023, Madison Police Officer Graham Heffelfinger executed a traffic stop in the 700 block of W. Main Street for speeding.  A registration check of the vehicle license plate found it to be false / fictitious. 

Captain Rick Mundt and his K-9 partner Zimo responded to the stop for the purpose of an open air sniff around the exterior of the vehicle.  Zimo gave Captain Mundt a positive indication for the presence of narcotics.  Officers conducted a probable cause search and located narcotics in the vehicle.

Two occupants of the vehicle, Chelse R. Crittenden 25, Madison, Indiana, and Brittany D. Calopietro 32, Hanover, Indiana, were taken into custody.  

Both Crittenden and Calopietro face preliminary alleged charges of possession of methamphetamine L-6 felony, unlawful possession of a legend drug L-6 felony, and possession of paraphernalia class C misdemeanor.  Crittenden and Calopietro have the presumption of innocence until otherwise proven guilty.
