Kelly Tuttle is stepping up as the new head coach for the Carroll County High School volleyball team, aiming to bring some fresh energy and structure to the court.

“I hope to see a lot of attitude change. I hope I give these girls structure,” Tuttle said. “They need someone who will be excited for them.”

Tuttle played volleyball at Carroll County Middle School and continued throughout high school, graduating in 2015 with a district title under her belt. She also played club ball in northern Kentucky her last two years of high school. She then went to Georgetown College where she played on the JV team for three years.

“Being a player in general who has played in all aspects will help me be a better coach,” Tuttle said, noting she can help steer girls in the right direction and pinpoint what skills they need to improve so they can play college volleyball.

Currently, the team is welcoming anyone interested in volleyball to their open gym sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Tuttle encourages both experienced players and newcomers to join in

“Anyone can learn this sport,” she said.

Tuttle's no stranger to coaching the game. She assisted former coach Lynn Eaglin in 2019 and now returns with enthusiasm to lead the team. She's also excited to build connections with the middle school team, ensuring a smooth transition for their high school years.

“Carroll County Athletics is very excited about the new addition of Coach Tuttle as the Carroll County volleyball coach,” Athletic Director Scott Anderson said. “Coach Tuttle is a native of Carroll County and brings experience to the court from her days of competing on club teams and at Georgetown College. We are sure she will bring exciting, competitive life to the volleyball program.”

Open gym will continue two days a week until June 10, when it becomes three days a week. Tryouts will occur in July. Anyone wishing to play must have a current physical, knee pads and tennis shoes.

Kelly is a teacher at the Carroll County Child Development Center. She lives in Carroll County with her husband and two daughters, ages 2 and six months.
