Henry County Man Convicted of Murder as the Result of a 2018 Kentucky State Police Investigation

This convictions stems from 2018 incident

                                          

CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (02/28/2024) –On Tuesday February 27, 2024 Gregory Mason Heightchew was found guilty of multiple charges, including murder, in Henry County Circuit Court.  The conviction was the result of an investigation that Kentucky State Police Post 5 began working in October 2018.

Heightchew was found guilty in a jury trial of the following charges.

-Count I: Murder- Complicity Principle Accomplice

-Count II:   Arson 1st Degree

-Count III:  Attempted Murder

-Count IV:  Tampering with Physical Evidence

Sentencing in this matter is scheduled for April of this year.

LaGrange, Ky. (October 12, 2018) — At approximately 2:15 p.m. the Kentucky State Police of Post 5 Campbellsburg executed a warrant on Gregory Heightchew (20) of Smithfield, KY for Murder. Heightchew was served with the warrant at the Oldham County Detention Center where he is currently housed for other charges including Attempted Murder.

The charge of Murder comes from a continued death investigation led by KSP related to a decedent that was discovered burned within a vehicle in Lockport, KY last week. The decedent was positively identified today as Elijah Creekmore (22) of Henry County. The next of kin for Mr. Creekmore have been notified. The investigation is ongoing.

The Kentucky State Police is being assisted during this investigation by the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office, Henry County Attorney’s Office, Henry County Coroner’s Office, Louisville Medical Examiner’s Office and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
